I think I may have just begun another new and amazing journey in my life, today (Ok, no “I think”, I really, truly know, through every cell in my body)! Wow! It’s really starting to just be crazy (and almost not always shock me in disbelief) how often this is happening now. I’ve been told so many times by people that once you start following your bliss and being true and genuine within yourself- things start popping up and opportunities literally start to be thrown at you. I always thought that these people (who would tell me these outlandish stories of magnificent opportunities coming up for them all the time) were slightly mad and a little bit too eccentric for my liking (and perhaps not living in reality). I am now starting to find that this is reality. This is life. It’s just that so many of us are just not living, truly. I mean, come on- if you have the option to live and love and be passionate- do you take it? Or opt for the boring, draining, unrewarding life. I have a feeling you’d go for the former. I understand that finance and money can always be an issue and can really get in the way of a lot of people “dropping” their draining careers and pursuing their love. However, I’ve had the privilege of meeting many people who have come from very poor and unfortunate, unstable backgrounds (financially and in all other sorts of ways like emotionally, physically) and changed their world around- by following their bliss. It is possible.
To put it into terms that can be understood from a more holistic, global perspective- think of the law of attraction. Like attracts like. “Be the change you wish to see in the world”. It’s been said in so many different ways by so many wonderful, inspiring people throughout history. It almost seems, sometimes, that this is a new concept- living your passion and being true to yourself. In ways, I think that it is, and then it also isn’t. I think we (a lot of us) have lost ourselves, through generations of different distractions of sorts. At the end of the day, everyone’s journey is their own- this is just my journey, or my “story” (that could be what my mum my call it)!
To update on what I’ve been up to- I have been fortunate enough to have joined forces with a company who works out of Toronto called The Naked Label. The company was created by entrepreneur master and nutrition extraordinaire, Briana Southward- who decided several years ago, to leave her position as a business strategy consultant to follow her bliss. She decided to begin a company that is driven through a desire to help the public to understand products and food and learn to love themselves through food again. As the slogan goes, through many different arenas and platforms The Naked Label “undresses the food we eat” to see how it looks naked! So how do I come into this story? Wonderful question! I came across a position available during school at IHN- which involved doing restaurant reviews (and really, leading the operations in Vancouver), doing some social media as a Holistic Nutritionist and working alongside some wonderful mentors & entrepreneurs in the industry! Clearly, I jumped at it! So I’ve been keeping busy tapping into all of these arenas and really enjoying my time meeting people in the industry and exploring what’s out there. Everyday there is something new and inspiring coming my way (whether that’s an email, a phone call or a person I meet by chance)!
Now that school is done and I have more time on my hands- I’m focusing on the restaurant reviews! I knew I would love it (how could I not, good food, nutrition, people & writing- it’s all my loves & passions in 1), but I didn’t realize how much I would love it. It just feels SO right. Getting ready to go and visit my first restaurant today, I felt so at peace and excited. Throughout the process it just felt so natural and comforting. So, I’m putting it out there universe: Me, Chloe Elgar- traveling to healthy, holistic, delicious, environmentally-conscious restaurants and cafes; eating good food; learning about other people’s experiences with foods and their passions, & writing about the entire thing! Let that sink in for a bit.
In terms of the review- it will be posted on The Naked Label website’s blog when it is completed and edited and all that good stuff, but for now- just take my word– check out Tao Organics Cafe in North Vancouver. Truly a wonderful, beautiful, passionate, delicious, happy place to eat & experience. Good people, GREAT food, wonderful business. and stay tuned– I am very excited to share my first ever Restaurant Review with the community (literally- I am so excited it’s almost too much for where I am right now. Fortunately, I also have some social etiquette and know that the crowd at 49th & parallel on Main St. wouldn’t appreciate me jumping on the wooden picnic tables, screaming for joy)!
For now I will leave you with some sneak peeks of some of the amazing food that we (my brother, Sam, joined me on this excursion where we happily ate our hearts out) devoured today at Tao Organics.
